High Resolution Imaging of Molecular Outflows in Massive Young Stars

چکیده
We present high angular resolution observations toward two massive star forming regions IRAS 18264-1152 and IRAS 23151+5912 with the Plateau de Bure Interferometer (PdBI) in the SiO (J=2-1) and HCO (J=1-0) lines and at 1.3 mm and 3.4 mm continuum, and with the Very Large Array (VLA) in the NH3 (J,K)=(1,1), (2,2) lines. The NH3 (1,1) and (2,2) emission is detected toward IRAS 18264-1152 only. For IRAS 18264-1152, the SiO observations reveal at least two quasi-perpendicular outflows with high collimation factors, and the most dominant feature is a redshifted jet-like outflow with very high velocities up to about ∆v = 60 kms with respect to the systemic velocity. The veryhigh-velocity component (∆v = 22− 60 kms) of this outflow is spatially offset from its high-velocity (∆v = 3 − 21 kms) component. The SiO line profiles and position-velocity characteristics of these two components suggest that this outflow can be driven by an underlying precessing jet. For IRAS 23151+5912,

Studying outflows from young massive star-forming clusters allows one to deduce physical processes that lead to the formation of the most massive stars. I will review the current state of high-spatial-resolution in-terferometric (sub-)mm studies of massive molecular outflows and their implications for high-mass star formation. A possible evolutionary scenario for massive outflows with highly co...

We present a study of molecular outflows using high-resolution mapping of the CO (1-0) line emission toward eight relatively nearby 6.7 GHz methanol masers, which are associated with massive star forming regions. Outflows were detected in seven out of eight sources, and five of them clearly show bipolar or multiple outflow morphologies. These outflows have typical masses of a few solar masses, ...
متن کاملThe infrared environments of masers associated with star formation
The near infrared (1-2 μm) and the thermal infrared (3-25 μm) trace many of the environments in which masers are thought to reside, including shocks, outflows, accretion disks, and the dense medium near protostars. After a number of recent surveys it has been found that there is a higher detection rate of mid-IR emission towards masers than cm radio continuum emission from UC HII regions, and t...

We present the results of a deep search for the molecular hydrogen shock fronts associated with young stellar outflows in the giant molecular cloud and massive star forming region W51. A total of 14 outflows were identified by comparing images in the H and K bands and in a narrow-band filter centered on the H2 1–0 S(1) line at 2.122 μm. A few of the newly discovered outflows were subsequently i...
متن کاملMassive Star Outflows
Molecular outflows in the form of wide-angle winds and/or well-collimated jets are associated with young stellar objects of all luminosities. Independent studies have established that the mass outflow rate is proportional to L bol for Lbol = 0.3 to 10 5 L⊙, suggesting that there is a strong link between accretion and outflow for a wide range of source luminosity and there is reasonable evidence...
